Treatment Techniques

Among the diagnostic tests used by physical therapists are the muscular manual, electric, perceptual and sensory, and the measure of the range of motion of joints. The functional activity tests are important to determine the patient’s capacity to carry on with activities requiring self-care. During the treatment of a patient, the physiotherapist must use one or more of the following procedures:

  • Massotherapy (massages, lymphatic drainage, deep transverse massage)
  • Electrotherapy (analgesic currents, electro-stimulation, etc.)
  • Exercises, mobilizations
  • Chest physiotherapy
  • Hydrotherapy (hot and cold baths, underwater massage, etc.)

  • Proprioception techniques
  • Early stimulation
  • Heat Therapy (infrared waves, short length waves, paraffin, etc.)
  • Cryotherapy
  • Muscular and myofascial stretches
  • Analgesic techniques
  • Hydrotherapy (therapy based on the use of water and pools)
  • Hypnotherapy (therapy with horses)
